De merkjes op de hiel van de pijpen waren onopvallend. Daarom werden bij het inpakken van de pijpen in kisten papierstroken gebruikt waarop het merk met een houtstempel werd gedrukt, zodat de ontvanger duidelijk kon zien van welke pijpenmaker de pijpen afkomstig waren.
