Uit Utrecht zijn vondsten bekend van pijpen met het hielmerk Kruisboog met de initialen BC. Deze pijpen worden gedateerd op ongeveer 1660 - 1680.

In de collectie van Claypipes.nl bevindt zich één exemplaar dat in Utrecht is gevonden. Het Pipemuseum Amsterdam heeft twee exemplaren: één gevonden in Maartensdijk (APM 1.265)  (provincie Utrecht) en de ander is een beerputvondst (APM 9.478e) uit Utrecht.

Het hier getoonde exemplaar komt uit de antiekhandel en zat in een partij kleipijpen waarin opvallend veel pijpen uit Utrecht aanwezig waren. De verzamelaar van deze pijpen is helaas onbekend.

Onder voorbehoud schrijven we het merk Kruisboog + BC toe aan een tot nu toe onbekende Utrechtse pijpenmaker.

Discoveries of pipes with the heelmark Crossbow with the initials BC are known from Utrecht. These pipes are dated to approximately 1660 - 1680.

The Claypipes.nl collection contains one example found in Utrecht. The Pipemuseum Amsterdam has two examples: one was found in Maartensdijk (province of Utrecht) and the other is a cesspit find from Utrecht.

The example shown here comes from the antiques trade and was part of a lot of clay pipes in which a striking number of pipes made in Utrecht were present. The collector of these pipes is unfortunately unknown.

The mark Crossbow + BC is provisionally attributed to a previously unknown pipe maker from Utrecht.
